The Great White Shark
The Great white shark has a cool digestive system. It needs one because of all the food and things it eats. A Great White Shark is known to eat all sorts of things it finds especially garbage and wastes. The shark usually eats it prey whole or chews it into very large parts. Sharks have a short esophagus, a U-shaped stomach, spiral shaped intestines, and an anus for excretion. In the U- Shaped stomach a lot of breaking down and dissolving of food goes on after the food travels through the esophagus. The indigestible things that the shark eats are usually vomited through the mouth before they make it to the esophagus. Absorption of nutrients occurs in the intestines even though they are very short. After the breaking down of the food and the absorption of nutrients the food is excreted through the anus and into the water where other animals and sharks may eat it.
